Just in case anyone is interested...I ain't no tree hugger!!! I'm standing beside an 1848 General Land Office (GLO) witness tree. It is a 28" Post Oak that was probably 12" when it was blazed and scribed (post oaks are a very slow growing tree-especially in the Ozark Hills). Since the post set as the corner has long since rotted away (after 162 years) I restored the position of the corner from this tree. There was also a stumphole of a Black Oak witness tree that confirmed that this was in fact the GLO witness tree. I know if you ain't a surveyor this may be gobbledy gook but just ask and I'll try to explain.
