Wishing all my friends, loved ones (and even my enemies) a Happy New Year! God's hand was very evident in our lives this past year and we are looking forward to His care and watchfulness in 2013.
I was telling Tami this afternoon that on New Years Day, Mom or my Grandma Fox always fried up some "hawg jaw" (hog jowl for any ya'll city slickers) and fixed a big pot of black-eyed peas. I had to get out of the house this afternoon so I stopped by Country Mart and picked up a package of hawg jaw. Tami fried some taters, I fixed the black-eyed peas and hawg jaw and the picture below is the result (the cornbread is leftovers). I'm sure the rest of 2013 will be just fine as a result of eating this meal!
Very fine way to start the New Year! I tried a recipe for black eyed pea cakes, made with hushpuppy mix and black eyed peas that was scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteYou know Rhonda, a lot of people don't like black-eyed peas but we had them pretty regular growing up.
